70 Years Since Babi Yar Massacre

A woman reacts as she participates in a ceremony marking 70 years since the murder of the Jews in Ukraine, including the massacres at Babi Yar and adjacent areas, at the Hall of Remembrance at the Yad Vashem Holocaust memorial in Jerusalem, on October 6, 2011. 70 years ago this week, 33,771 Jews were murdered in Babi Yar, near Kiev. As the German army advanced eastward in the fall of 1941 during World War II, similar mass murders of Jews took place throughout the region during this period.

About this blog

Photo Op: short for photo opportunity, originally referred to an opportunity to take a memorable and effective photograph of a politician, a celebrity, or a notable event. The term has acquired a negative connotation, referring to a carefully planned pseudo-event, or a non-event that often masquerades as news. This blog is called "Photo Op" and I hope this is where the resemblance to the above definition ends.
